Lucas / Schwering is currently working with the National Veterans’ Memorial Museum to develop their vision into an architectural concept for a facility that will serve to educate the public and preserve history while actively supporting veterans and their families.
The design for the Museum seeks to capture and express the personal experiences of men and women in the US armed forces by exploring the juxtaposition of the chaos of combat against the order and hierarchy of daily military life, studying the use of landscape as an emotional element which can evoke feelings of comfort or anxiety and by reevaluating traditional ideas of threshold based on a veterans' perspective. Wayne County Public Schools has hired Lucas/Schwering to design an addition to their existing middle school. Construction Bids are expected in late July 2011.
East Bernstadt Independent Schools has hired Lucas / Schwering Architects to be the architect for their new K-6 Elementary School facility. Design work is set to begin in late January 2011 and construction bids are scheduled to be contracted by November 2011. Construction management services on this project will be provided by Hacker Brothers Inc. of London, Kentucky.
Lucas / Schwering Architects has been awarded the design contract as architect for new Additions and Renovations to the K-12 Facility for Burgin Independent School, Burgin Kentucky. The project consist of a four classroom addition and various interior upgrades and renovations.Construction bids are expected to advertise in late April 2011.
