Scott County Southern Elementary Renovation and Addition
Georgetown, Kentucky
This project dramatically increased the quality of the learning environment for the students and contributed greatly to the fabric of the community.
The extensive renovation included redefining existing interior spaces and adding a new gymnasium, a new administration wing, a new Media Center and some new classrooms. New architectural finishes were applied to the existing interior spaces and all new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were added throughout the building.
As visitors approach the building, they are welcomed by a pavilion and porch strengthening the relationship between building and street and creating urban spaces for parents, staff and students. At the heart of the building, a cylindrical rotunda rises a dramatic three stories capped by a band of clerestory windows creating a unique visual impact and providing a central gathering area. Unique architectural features along with extensive site improvements help create a more vibrant presence with an inviting front to the street and community.
