Magoffin County Northside Elementary School

This new facility along with its sister school, Southside Elementary, replaces five existing elementary schools. The linearity of the plan successfully responds to site limitations. The major program components are centrally located in the building including the administration suite, the gymnasium, the cafeteria and the media center. The adjacent classroom wings separate the lower and upper age groups.
The entrance volume offers a day lit lobby connecting the front entrance for parent pick-up and drop-off and the rear entrance for bus loading and unloading. This entrance lobby also serves as a lobby to the gymnasium to be utilized not only during school hours but also for community activities. Facing the Licking River, the lower portion of the site will allow for future athletic fields for both students and community alike.
