Fayette County Leestown Middle Renovation / Addition
Lexington, Kentucky
This Project is a complex addition and renovation of a fully occupied middle school facility for 750 students. The front entrance will exhibit a new appearance and the administrative offices will be re-established at the main entrance. A new larger Media Center and six new science classrooms will be constructed in the existing courtyard to overcome site restrictions. In addition, a new updated kitchen will be built and all mechanical and life safety systems will be upgraded. The renovation of all toilet rooms and other renovations throughout the building will also occur.
Other aspects of the project will include improvements to the site circulation of car and bus traffic. This will be achieved through new site access for busses and a separation of car and bus traffic. The new traffic circulation pattern will alleviate congestion onto Leestown Road, a main artery in Lexington.
To facilitate the construction process, the school district will provide portable classrooms in order to meet the challenges of renovating a multi-phased construction project with minimal disruption to the day-to-day educational process.
